Based on a proposal developed by staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, advisors to the COVID Impact Survey project developed a survey for this project that includes three core modules focused on physical health, social and mental health, and economic and financial health.
Physical Health. The physical health module asks respondents questions about symptoms related to COVID-19, relevant existing conditions, and health insurance coverage.
Social and Mental Health. The social and mental health module includes questions for survey respondents that generally align with the Current Population Survey, focused on communication with friends and family, anxiety, and volunteerism.
Economic and Financial Health. The economic module prioritizes questions for respondents on employment, food security, and government cash assistance.
The survey will also capture core demographic characteristics for respondents, such as age, gender, race, and household income.
